In partnership with Brave Scottish Gifts, the yearly sale of our famous Unicorn T Shirts has raised thousands of pounds for Diabetes charities. Version 7 2025 available in January 2025
My love of all things Grunge started in 1992 upon a chance listening to Pearl Jam 10. Fast forward to 2013 and the Pearl Jam Alba page was started to rally the Scottish troops for a get together. In 2014 the first PJ Con took place and the musical charity links were established. The following year my son Lewis took seriously ill and was rushed to Hospital. Once he was stabilised by the wonderful Doctors and Nurses we were informed that he was Type 1 Diabetic. A condition that can be managed but had no cure. I decided at that point that all the charity work was going to benefit Diabetes UK and it still does to this day. Since 2018, Martin and I, under the new Pearl Jam Scotland banner and with the kind help of our Sounds Of Seattle community have raised extraordinary amounts every year. We hope that this will help find a cure someday soon.
Hello to everyone. I got into Pearl Jam in early 1992 and have been a huge fan since. I've seen them 10 times in 4 countries. Going to see them now is a balance of the band and which fans I'm meeting with. Pearl Jam fans pride themselves on a community spirit, dare I say, a Jamily.
I have alway been active with charity fundraising across a lot of sectors. I get a real sense of pride when I have achieved a target or aim we set ourselves and knowing everything we do has an impact on someone's life.
In 2018 I was approached by Colin Rodger and asked to join his fundraising efforts for Diabetes UK. It was an easy yes, as my godson Max is type 1 Diabetic.
Since 2018 we have taken our group from strength to strength increasing our members (Unicorns) from 200 to nearly 3000. Our Fundraising will top £100,000 by Christmas 2023. I think we have created a real community in our group as we encourage meet ups, gigs and gatherings. Lots of us have made new friends in our pursuit of seeing our band and raising money for Diabetes UK. Something I think is quite unique.
A wonderful, caring, generous and rocking community. Bringing people together from all over the world both 'in person' and online through a mutual love of all things Grunge. At the same time we are raising money for charity and having lots of fun in the process.
Since 2014 we've been hosting our musical charity events in Glasgow. It all started then with PJ Con until 2019. Now GrungeFest rules since 2020. We also organise get togethers and pre-parties when our favourite bands are in town.
